The seventh Steering Committee (SC) meeting of EEP Mekong was held in Bangkok (Thailand) on 20 June 2018

Main topics discussed during the SC meeting:

  • Review and update on the status of EEP Mekong Programme implementation incl. approval of annual work plan incl. budget for the final year of programme implementation 2018
  • Presentation and discussion on the implementation status of the funded projects, and implementation of Capacity Building activities
  • Presentation and discussion of the programme’s exit plan

SC members from the five Mekong countries and Finland presented the current status of the Clean Energy sector in their respective countries, including new policies and regulations introduced.

Prior to the SC meeting, EEP Mekong organized site visits to two funded projects in Thailand; one in Rayong (EEPM-C8-011 TBEC) and one in Nakhorn Ratchasima province (EEPM-C8-005 RPG). Both projects produce biogas from starch wastewater and after purification and compression sell the bio-CNG to the transport sector as replacement for fossil fuel.

All SC members together with representatives from the Embassy of Finland in Bangkok, participated in the project site visits.

The next Steering Committee Meeting shall be held in Myanmar and is tentatively scheduled for December 2018.
